    Newport NC lies just west of Morehead City, and is the first community reached when arriving in Carteret County on Highway 70. Flowing from the northeast corner of newport is the Newport River, which eventually joins Bogue Sound at the State Port in Morehead City before exiting to the atlantic through Beaufort Inlet.

    Comprised largely of year round family residences, other properties include commercial, rental and agricultural land parcels. Close Proximity to havelock NC and the Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station there contribute to a number of military households.
