Morehead City lies on a peninsula at the tip of which sits one of the
three North Carolina State Ports. Home to many of the commercial and professional
offices in Carteret County, Morehead City is the largest town in Carteret
County It's position at the foot of high rise bridges both to Bogue
Banks and to the area collectively known as 'Down East' Beaufort, Otway,
harker's island, Stacy, Davis, Atlantic, Sea Level and Cedar Island) have
made it a natural crossroads for visitors to most of the other areas of
Carteret County.
Properties include largely year round residences,
commercial properties, as well as condominiums, vacation homes, and apartments.
Restaurants and larger chain stores occupy the western business district,
while many locally owned shops occupy the waterfront business distric.
Charter boats, ferries, and the commercial and sportfishing fleet keep
several marinas busy, and close proximity to the Intracoastal Waterway
and Beaufort Inlet make Morehead City's waterfront a stop for visitors
from both land and sea.
